Your sucking air someplace. First thing I'd do is take off the filter and make sure there isn't a old filter gasket stuck in the housing.
On the filter housing should be a round circle about the size of a quarter. Push the center in with a screwdriver and stick a paperclip in it. Crank it over till you get the air out and remove the paperclip.
I'm assuming you pre filled the filter before you put it on. Remove the block off plate and put a hand prime on it. They make a short and long one. Get the correct one for your engine.
And put a fuel pressure guage in. You'll be able to tell when your filter needs changing by the pressure it's running.

In the rare case there is a rubber gromlet in the housing that goes bad and pieces can get stuck. I've never had it happen personally but you can Google it.

No old gasket any where. Checked that already.
Don't see anything like you describe on the housing unless you mean the fitting for the mechanical fuel pressure gauge.
Filled the filters up before install. Fired the truck up and it had a little bit of a hiccup after a few seconds but smoothed out so I thought the air was gone and shut it off. Hasn't started since.singlescrewshaker, Eldiablo, PoleCrusher and 1 other person Thank this. -
@Lysdexis It sounds a LOT like the 2007 International 9400i we had with a 2007 Cat C15 ACERT. I would recommend checking your ECM ground connections, it turned out that was our problem.
We had new batteries put in, had the entire fuel line checked, used ether to start the engine and the engine would run as long as it had ether going in. We thought fuel pump too, but the mechanic looked and found the ECM ground was bad. Fixed that and the truck started up like it was new.singlescrewshaker, clausland, Eldiablo and 3 others Thank this. -

Before we ended up selling it, we had cab heating issues. We believe it could be a bad thermostat since the coolant would get to about 190°F - 200°F and then stop warming. The oil gauge needle never moved. Could not get heat into the cab. Big bosses decided to hell with it, sell the money pit of a truck before anymore money was lost on it. All told, spent about $22-24k (buying the truck and repairs) and ended up selling for $9k and it still needed another $6k+ to be legal.
That truck was cursed from the start...singlescrewshaker, PoleCrusher, cke and 1 other person Thank this. -
