I have my own truck and trailer and want to hire someone to haul my remaining 60,000 bushels of corn about 45 miles round trip. I want to pay him hourly. I’m in iowa and would like to know the going rate. He would have to set 1 auger.

I’ll do it for 20% if the 60,000 bushels. ;)

You want to hire someone to drive your truck and trailer? Or hire someone with their own truck and trailer?

Plenty of good drivers working for 16-18 per hour. I wouldn't work for that but Plenty do.

If you want to hire a truck 100-125 per hr

Hey I can grab a hopper bottom and put a driver on it for ~70k. 60 loads at ~1k per load for the 45 mile rounder. :D

I’ve never done hoppers. But if they pay that well I may reconsider. Any openings?

My Dad farms and has 3 or 4 of them. He has a small elevator as well. I’ve never hauled one load for him to put it in perspective. Many of the guys who still own trucks around these parts are leftover from the coal hauling days and are scraping by. That industry has gone by the wayside in the last 25 yrs. Big time. It’s actually really sad to see.

As far as the OP, that would be $1 a bushel or higher which obviously is too high. However, with grain being higher then I’ve seen it in years and with a looming contract dead line. Who knows!?!?

Farmers in this part of Iowa that pay by the hour for somebody to drive their trucks are paying between 15 & 18 dollars a hr for just exactly what your asking about

They don't pay that well at all. He can likely hire somebody with their own truck and trailer to haul it for cheaper than he could hire somebody to drive his truck and burn his fuel, and that's no joke.
