Even if they do, it’s only 2021 now. The only people that will be shut down and “forced” to find new jobs in the scenario you’ve described are the ones who sit on their hands and do nothing until 2026 instead of figuring out how to adapt their business to the changes.slow.rider Thanks this.

Not worried.
There will always be a job in trucking.
There will always be trucks powered by something we have to pay for.
For my lifetime and about anyone else on here most of them will be diesel.
There will always be politicians and governments to disagree with.
They will always be rich, privileged and crooked and not have a clue about the lives and woes of the common working man.
There will always be taxes to be paid.
I worry a lot more about getting sued by some idiot or the cost of insurance putting me out of business.snowlauncher, dwells40, SteveScott and 2 others Thank this. -

Democrats have been screaming for the last 40 years that we are all going to die in 6 years from global warming.
im surprised the truckers didn’t strike when Cali banned the pre emission trucks
all it takes is for the drivers to just all take their two week vacation at the same time, and watch the fun begin.

Just check the example of tesla trucks they only offers 300 to 500 miles ehile a diesel truck give you over 1000 miles. By all means the cost of insurance will provably be way to much for a self driven trucks without an operator

I don’t think complete self driving trucks will be a thing anytime remotely soon.
Electric trucks I could see becoming a thing. You won’t have to plug them in. In place of the motor will be a generator that recharges everything. It’ll also recharge when going down hills or using the brakes.
Either way we’ll all still be trucking in some form or fashion. Freight has to move. If I had and older truck that’s pre emissions then I’d feel very vulnerable right now. Especially since they are so overpriced. If politicians don’t outright ban trucks, high fuel prices surely will to an extent. -
Due to litigation and especially liability there will be a driver in trucks including "self driving" for the foreseeable future.
Due to the lack of electrical grid infrastructure eliminating the internal combustion engine is not currently feasible nor will it be for the foreseeable future.
Before worrying about what politicians say they are going to do, look and see what they can actually do. Then start worrying.86scotty Thanks this. -
Late model forklift and battery, both in good condition, and used within capacity-terrain designed for. Truck will operate for 8 hours at capacity, then you either swap for a charged battery or connect to charger for 8 hours.
Oh, also should let cool for 8 hours. If not, really short life expectancy.
So, forklift off charger loading truck. Truck can be hooked to his charger.
For 8 hours. Sporadic, boost-lunch hour charging has not been proved
effective.
A scenario of 20 door shipper, 5 forklifts, All trucks come at 8, all loaded by 4,
trucks have been on shippers chargers (20) this 8 hours. Trucks pull out, forklifts go on charge. Trucks run out 8 hours on dispatched routes. Stop at available charging spot and sit 16 hours (8charge-8 cool).
All trucks don't come at same time.
All drivers ?? for 8 hours and where.
Estimate current draw at shipper and at the 8 hour away recharge stop.
Cost of power to shippers, and purchase/maintenance of chargers.
This example does not make any sense. Take a shot, adjust it to be usable in todays transportation environment
