    Your arguments are illogical. Keep drinking the Kool Aid that electric power is better than internal combustion. It’s nonsense . We don’t have the ability to power the grid to supply the juice and the greenie weenies don’t want to build more power plants. Commiefornia can’t even keep power on for current use let alone adding electric cars let alone trucks

    Or you could try to write more carefully. It's not my fault that you chose to ignore the fact that they can install a charger at the dock. Once upon a time people had to build some gas stations too.

    Nope, yours are. You're still making the same arguments against electric that were made against cars at one time, and your refusal to acknowledge that fact isn't making that fact go away.
    I never said it's better, but your desperate need to keep pushing that false dichotomy speaks volumes.
    We've always had "just enough" electric power. We've never had way too much. We build it as we need it. Just like we don't have enough refineries to add 50% more ICE drivers either. And if greens don't want to build power plants then why is California building ten of them right now as you type?

    I should have said usage instead of life. Life is usually about 3 years in a forklift.
    Actually in the lift business it is called "run time". So he leaves Memphis, at say 5:30 AM,drives the 90 miles in 1.5, peddles his stops (no idle-but starts under load) till about 4 PM,drives the 90 back to Memphis in 1.5.
    Starting and restarting uses more battery capacity then just running down the ideal road. Brand new truck, battery and matched charger, might make it

    Assuming that's true, you can install a quick charge plug at one of your stops, or wait three years for a better battery to come out before converting. Not sure why you're all hung up on this one borderline example. There's tons of local delivery trucks that work all day and don't rack up 200 miles. Not to mention spotters.

    Plenty of other technology that’s been talked about and not mentioned here. Such as being able to quick charge while waiting at a stop light because wireless chargers will be buried in the road surface.

    And all running on gas, diesel, or LP..

    The forklift is fully charged. Op hops on and hits the ramp and goes down town to the Lowes. Scoops up a bunk of lumber and scoots on back. Brings it into the framework of the construction.. Drops it.
    Hour or so later, he goes out and down to the metal roofing plant and picks up a bundle of roofing. Brings it back and positions it.
    All good....
    But if it takes him 1 hour to make each round trip, he can only make 8 trips.and (do nothing between) as he is dead in the water after 8 hours.
    Where ever he happens to be at that time, is where the roll back will pick him up. Less time per trip, more trips. More time per trip, less trips.
    This assumption based on a perfectly tuned machine in perfect condition with an excellent operator. Bush that down to a weak battery, or a faulty charger, or a power outage, with a op of questionable skill. Maybe hit a slick spot or hang on a curb, have to rock it a little to get going. Life.

    Lets go to something more logical to your actual work. I am old and out
    of detail, but I understand your ELD allows you to drive 10 hours, and stop.
    Or 11 in some cases, so be it.
    But you leave out and drive straight on continuous for 10 hours. I walk up when you stop, and take the keys.
    You can do what you want, go where you please. Truck sits there in its
    tread pattern for 10 hours, and I reappear with the keys. Gas/Diesel close
    by at fuel island if needed, BUT you have 300 gallon tanks, just ran 600 miles, still have 200 gallon (6mpg) so you can fire up and haul it on.

    Oh -Oh, it is one of those new hi tech electrics. You leave out and drive on the same roads, with the same load, speeds and weather... for 8 hours?
    Truck has stopped. Battery down. Not a biggy, it chugged and you pulled in to a modern truck stop with these charging stations...Ha..
    If you happened to wind up in a cable lengths from the charger, and it happens his cable plug is compatible with the trucks. plug her in.
    Now you can still do what you want, go where you please (even more) as you now have 16 hours to let it sit in in tread pattern before if is realistically
    in shape to roll on. 8 hours of charge and 8 hours to cool, or 2 or 3 hours charge and go as you need to move. Move just far enough to get to your
    absolute needed location. Fine,but its in the sticks and all you see is 30 ft wood poles with two wires. (110V ) Not enough power to run a heavy charger You are dead in the water and need a hook.They refer to them (the hooks) as rotators on 401 rescue.
    Big boogers, hi dollar.

    Lets get a reading from Dave on putting 480V 3 phase near the intersections
    at traffic signals. Work kinda like the controllers for the lights.

    The problem with democrats is they are never able to acknowledge the gains made in the past and are never happy with what’s Been accomplished and just keep pushing and pushing .

    Vehicle emissions and gun control are the same as smoking.

    You used to be able to smoke in a restaurant, then the democrats required a separate smoking area.
    Then , not happy with that they banned smoking in a building and required people to smoke outside.

    then,
    Not happy with that they required people to move from outside the front of the building to the sidewalk. then, banned smoking in public parks.

    then, not happy with that , democrats in some places banned smoking in your own vehicle and in your own home .

    so when the democrats start in on vehicle emissions , we know where it’s going to end.
    It won’t ever end, they will never acknowledge that today’s vehicles , heavy trucks and cars , produce about 1% of the emissions that they did 20 or 25 years ago.
    Nope, they will never acknowledge the improvements, and they will also never acknowledge the pollution that their pals in China and India and Mexico produce.

    ...but only until they begin to replace them with the electrics which are perfectly functional for those scenarios, and only now starting to be made, but which you bizarrely continue to insist can serve no useful purpose.

    The point I've made repeatedly, which you don't seem to be getting, is the fact that there's lots of ICE trucks on the road right now which drive less miles per day than an electric truck is capable of driving between charges.

    You keep trying to say well there's some trucks which drive more than that per day and therefore electric trucks are no good for anyone, but that argument is a total and complete nonstarter.

    Maybe that's why you keep talking about 8 hours. The fact that a forklift can get eight hours of constant use out of a charge has nothing whatsoever to do with electric trucks. A truck doing local deliveries is parked for much of the day, and when it's parked, it's not using any juice. Sort of like how if you park one of those "8 hour" forklifts for half of those eight hours, it'll actually last much longer than 8 hours.
