Hello, I recently bought a 2012 Peterbilt 386 with a CM2250 ISX engine. I know some of the history on the truck and the high pressure fuel pump has never been updated. I have removed the pump and partially disassembled it to find that it does have the ceramic plungers. I had my Cummins dealer price my options. They said there are no kits available anymore to update the pump and that a new pump ($5000) was my only option. Does anyone here know if this is true? Are there any other sources for a new or reman pump other than Cummins? Are kits still available to update old pumps? Thank you!

I do not know about that. However I can buy the same Cummins parts from the truck dealers for less.
jsnell Thanks this. -
Bullcrap. I just put lifters and plungers kits in a pump 2 weeks ago.
But I guess they could be on BO. Parts availability has been sketchy with covid.
Id try another dealer or your nearest big city Cummins distributor.Flint1, BoxCarKidd, jsnell and 2 others Thank this. -

Verify with your ESN, but this is P/N's for steel B/P assy and updated tappets.
Would need two of each and gaskets and seals.Flint1, BoxCarKidd, QUALITYTRUCK and 1 other person Thank this. -
^^^^^^^Exactly what that young gentleman posted. He just saved you thousands on parts and potentially tens of thousands on disaster relief!!^^^^^^^^^
Flint1, spsauerland and BoxCarKidd Thank this. -
It's no joke when those plungers break. Check engine lamp came on, and I had enough time to say to myself "WTF". Truck quit at highway speed and would not restart. This was on a cummins Isc, but I believe they are similar. Tappet rollers were destroyed too.
spsauerland and QUALITYTRUCK Thank this.
