In my case, I have a CCW in AZ. There are many states I can carry in. Luckily the only states I hit outside of AZ is NM and TX. Both legal for me to carry.
in fact on my last trip to Texas the boarder patrol at the check station asked if I had anyone in the truck. Nope! Are you an American citizen? Yes. Do you have any firearms? Yes. Do you have a CCW? Yes. May I see it? Yes. Have a nice day sir!CerealKiller, DrFlush, JoeyJunk and 1 other person Thank this. -
For those who may not understand this, there is a time and place for everything.
Using a sidearm or weapon to protect ones self sometimes escalates the incident into more of a life threatening event than it would have been if you just complied.
My policy is no guns in the trucks, this isn’t because I don’t trust my drivers, but as one former cop who drives for me said using it doesn’t mean the problem is solved. Now that’s my policy, and while I know there are a bunch of drivers who carry in my trucks, it doesn’t mean I am going to punish a driver for it or tell them no because of a lot of reasons.
now that said, there has been talk about allowing only truckers to carry which I say no way!
I am against any national law that gives special rights to any group no matter what they do or did, right now there is on the books giving retired law enforcement those special rights - 18 USC 926C.
To me there is no reason that any one should be restricted that qualifies to carry by reasonable limits, even in home states like New Jersey and New York.
Repeal 18 USC 926C and replace it with a universal carry permit that is issued by the states with no restrictions to carry in all fifty and territories. Make it a domicile only carry permit, no more non-resident permits.
also with that, there has to be a better system of mental health mitigation, which has been talked about, money given to universities and non-profits (pissed away as far as I’m concerned) to just study the problem and the results have been the same as they were 100 years ago. What we need is an actual rebuilding the mental health system of the country and stop this blaming of social-economic conditions for mental health problems.
for the record, I carry. I also have been robbed while carrying and because of the situation, I didn’t let it escalate by pulling a weapon and trying to defuse the situation. There isn’t a time to think, reacting in the negative is a bad thing unless you are willing to take the person out and deal with the crap after.CNClee, Final Drive, CerealKiller and 1 other person Thank this. -
I have a TN carry permit, I’m legal to carry in all but a handful of states. IL is one of them that doesn’t allow TN permits, but they do allow you to carry in your truck, you just can’t carry outside your truck.CerealKiller, JoeyJunk, Brettj3876 and 1 other person Thank this. -
As far as don't tell, be aware that in some states you are required to inform a LEO that you are armed upon contact with the cop. If they find out later that you had a gun and you didn't inform them you could be in deep stuff.91B20H8 and feldsforever Thank this. -

I hope to never be forced to kill someone. But it is their choice not mine.
I don't get into arguments or go around acting in a idiotic alpha male way. I'll walk away from jerks rather than fight with them. I'd rather give up my stuff and avoid the confrontation. Let them rob me.
I don't want to kill anyone
That being said I will not let anyone harm me or others. I've seen long term disabling injuries due to a savage beating.
If a man choses to act as a fearal animal then he must be put down just like an animal and for the same reason. Protection of human life.
Get yourself a firearm. Try to obey all the laws.
Learn how to use it. Pray you never have to.
Make it home safe.Final Drive, CerealKiller, jason6541 and 4 others Thank this. -
In Michigan when I received my CCW the instructor, a retired cop, said if pulled over whether you have you weapon with you or not give the officer your permit and DL at the same time. If he wants to see it he will ask for it. Just be really cool and cooperative and there won't be a problem.
91B20H8 Thanks this. -
Under state law, 28.425f (2), if you get pulled over and you are carrying concealed, you must immediately disclosed that fact to the officer and hand them both id’s.
If you are not carrying concealed, you are not obligated to hand both or indicate you have a cpl. They will see it as a matter of record when they look at your information, they will ask you if you have a cpl and a weapon.
if you do hand over both without the weapon in your possession, it can be construed as you have a weapon concealed on your person or in the vehicle and hiding it. They will treat you differently, and take an adversarial position to seek out the weapon. -
So I had a driver years back
He got pulled over for a random road side. And they saw a shot gun shell on the floor. ( he liked to stop snd shoot in wyoming) pretty much lived in the truck
So they asked if he had guns and he said yes they took them all. He went to court and the judge wasted no time. Gave all his guns back and threw it outs
Something about federal law overruling state law
