. Your right , most Decent Ontario based carriers do. But out here in the west , this is all we got That’s the least we can ask for 1.40! As a broker / owner operator. We haven’t had a raise ever really ! Ontario s way different. Ontario’s always got new pay package. The west is just something else sadly

    Canadianhauler21 and BigHossVolvo Thank this.

In 2007 I got $1.47 for Super B flat deck (which sucked at that time). As far as I’m concerned LCV is the same as Super B , potentially the same weights.
Reminds me of Carl Rosenau saying he had no problem getting o/o’s to haul for 90 cents in late 90’s pulling triples. Said he couldn’t pull one pup himself that cheap.
It’s all supply and demand, big supply little demand.

I was chatting with a local driver, when he told he was working for 34$ an hour I thought he was a company driver. Then he told me he was an owner op for 34/hr. I offered him my sandwich. He needed it more then me.
Some of junkers running around Edmonton are downright scary. This is why.

Now imagine $34 and hour in Langley/Delta/Surrey with their fuel and insurance prices, that's some serious junk if I ever seen it.

I own and operate a school bus company. That is another industry plagued by low wages. That's why there is drunks, accidents and idiocy in that industry too. Quite often I joke you need 3 drivers for the big bus outfits to get a full set of teeth.
I had a great car hauling gig that eventually ended. I saw enough of trucking to know I want no part of the slave meat in the seat mentality. Race to the bottom.
I hope I'm doing something about it by paying my drivers a fair wage (25$/hr and up), and giving them good, safe equipment to run. I also demand professionalism.
