got to be better than electric brakes...
I moved some used mobile homes in the mid '80s with electrics and that scared the crap out of me, 1 axle of brakes on air and 2 single tire axles on electrics with 65K..... just ####!

 

I believe you need brakes on the front trailer at least in SK and I may be wrong but I think I remember a lower weight limit requiring brakes on the rear unit.

 

Electric brakes these days are pretty trick. These modern brake controllers integrated into today's pickups must read stuff like brake pressure and inertia.

I was pulling an 18 foot equipment trailer with my pickup a couple years ago and some bimbo pulled right out in front of me on the highway. No escape route so all I could do was mash the binders and hope for the best. Even with about 3,000 lbs of empty trailer behind me that thing stopped like it wasn't even there. Blew my mind.

 

So what can you legally haul in a setup like that?

 

I am planning a yard upgrade now that I am retired.
