Was told today by a waitress at the Iron Skillet that as of Monday April 19th the restaurant will be closed as they remodel it and turn it into an IHOP.

Oh well, wish the Blue Beacon was still there. Single bay. But I always got a good wash from them.

I've been told the one west of 75 just down past the Loves does a real good job washing a truck.

While a Iron skillet ranks low on my list. IHOP is below the Iron Skillet.

Just another breakfast restaurant in a Truckstop that I'll rarely eat at. Not sure how that is better than a place with a buffet but nobody can stop them from writing their own obituary.

I used to run that section once, or twice a day. Don't eat out much. But the streaking beacon was good there. And Always had room at the 10 spots behind McD's if you know how to back up. Petro always full. To close to home and cheap McD's breakfast was better in a emergency. Still nothing to write home about.

It a money thing TA and Petro are making millions in licensing agreements plus rent money and they get out of the restaurant business. Plus they are out for the traveler. Most will close at night also. The real money is all profit for TA and Petro it very good for there bottom line. Plus IHOP gets a ready built restaurant and parking and no build permits to fight for. Look at Iowa 80 just as many travelers as truckers and the travelers spend more per car load then one trucker.
