Is Texas a good state for freight? Seems like Texas has a lot of freight moving than other states but I have noticed that the rates are not as good.

@God prefers Diesels might be able to answer that.
What type of trailer? I always see a decent amount of freight headed to Texas off the boards never looked at freight coming back outGod prefers Diesels Thanks this. -
It will put food on the table for sure, but it's not as good as some other regions. It's big. Big like multiple states, so you get "multiple state" lanes from what I've experienced. Like going into Florida is good rates, but leaving is crap rates. You get the same thing going into Midland and then trying to leave.austinmike, tscottme, GYPSY65 and 1 other person Thank this.

Midland/Odessa region usually has a few shorties to out by Dallas. Then can usually find something halfway decent outbound from there. In fact I see most of Texas that way: if you can't find something decent out, just find something to Dallas, then get out from there.

Cheap to go in and cheap to go out with rare spikes here and there. Too many people like living and driving in that state

It is doable but it isn’t great. It is huge and as has been said there are a lot of trucks here. Some people like to haul less miles for less money sometimes it seems as some really low paying loads gets snatched up pretty quick. If you are patient you can do okay but not like you can in some other area of country. Parts of Texas absolutely suck as far as rates go.

Does Texas also have a lot of tornadoes?
-
Do you know how big Texas is? South Texas and West Texas have few tornadoes, Central Texas and North Texas tend to have more as they're the bottom of Tornado Alley, East Texas is fairly high and seems more devastating due to the higher population density.RockinChair, austinmike, slow.rider and 1 other person Thank this.
