Red stop engine light?

    What are some of the things to check when a stop engine light comes on in a 2012 ISX 12...

    Fluid levels. engine oil, coolant, alternator/water pump/AC belts.

    Thanks I am on my way to check it out. the driver checked the fluids and said they are all ok. It has no A/C belt. I will check the altonator...thanks

    On my DD16 Detroit. The alternator belt also drives the water pump. So the engine would get an over temperature alarm.

    This is a ISX12 the a/c belt is separate

    Any other lights, CEL , DEF or emissions Derate.?

    Is there any low coolant warning, even though its full...... level sensor or float?

    Thats kinda given. Hes asking for common places to look without hooking up. Which in most cases is like sharpening a knife in the dark. A waste of time and painful.

    Water in the oil = stop.

    Could be just a sensor gone south too.

    Think I'd rig a jumper to bypass the sensor in the coolant surge tank first.

    I drove mine until I think it had all the emissions codes when the SCR died, and still never got the red light.

    Sniff around your coolant sensors. Eliminate those first.
