So A couple of days ago , I posted saying I’m planning on being an owner op. I’ve been looking around Things are just changing in my mind. Now that I think about it. I think I might as well drive myself , But what do you experienced guys think about local Cartage work ? Give me some insight. Rates don’t seem that bad. I gave TransX a call their willing to give me city tractor service work at a rate of 53 dollars an hour, Arnold brothers transport 50 dollars an hour. Is this a good way to start a trucking company ? Or start as an owner op.

$50/hour for you AND the truck? Honestly you'll be left with about $5/hour to pay yourself with if you're lucky.

That's horrible man, your insurance, pro-rate, fuel, truck, CVIP, maintenance, will be more than that.

Also, tractor service, they don't owe you ####! they will "give you work" when they have work or feel like sharing. ABL/Tractor service, its all stuff they can't handle with their trucks. So don't expect steady work.
