So what are you then? Is this your good deed to stop all of us from going into the trucking business?

 

I agree about seeing the same old questions asked again and again. It would be nice if more people utilized the search portion of the forum.

It sounds as though you read a lot of negative posts on this forum. A vast number of drivers on here complain about their jobs and jump from one big-box carrier to another one, instead of seeking a different avenue of truck driving. There are many different types of driving jobs out there. The challenge is putting in your time at a training company and then finding the type of driving job that fits you.

I hope all goes well with you MSgt Fowler (retired I assume).

 

Would it be possible for the "Welcome to the Forum" mods to expand on their welcome a bit. Maybe toss out some pointers to the new members from the get go! Such as, "Do some browsing - your question may have been asked before".

It's impossible to keep all of you out . He's just doing a good deed to keep out the ones with common sense .

 

So you are saying that only people with no common sense get into trucking?

I for one do not appreciate your condescending attitude!!

Trucking is vital to the success of our economy! Maybe you are sorry that you got into trucking or maybe you are just trying to keep other out. Not sure what the reason is.

Trucking may not be for everyone, but I applaud anyone who is willing to try something rather than sit on their ### and draw unemployment. Or do you think letting the government take care of you is a better way to do it.

Either way, I do not care much for your comments! Nothing personal, just my opinion!!!

 

Well , we know you won't benefit from his good deed attempt . Having the WIA throw away millions on tuition for students that will never get behind the wheel is better than having them draw unemployment ?
No , I'm not sorry I got into trucking . Many of us are doing well but yes I am trying to slow the flow of poorly trained drivers that quit before they get any real experience to be replaced by another , then another just as bad .
I am questioning how sensible it is to enter an industry with increasing numbers of jobs being eliminated . With tens of thousands of experienced drivers out of work newbies are only hired by companies experienced drivers have too much sense to work for .

 

IMO you are both right...

Too many new drivers, without proper training, desire etc.

Some people, however few, truly have driving in their blood and will do well. But many more are looking for a quick buck, and are dangerous, and wasting money on a career path that is dwindling in opportunities.

Those drivers, that are truly meant to be drivers will listen to advice from Rick and others, and will defend there reasons not only through posts, but by action. Others, and lots of them will fail. Its just the way it is.

But as to original post, those newbies or wannabees, are posting the same questions over and over and over etc. Who is a good comany to drive for, and others along the same line. There is a wealth of info here to read prior to posting. Including good/bad of particular companies, which to my understanding are training companies anyway...
