Does anyone know if Gordon is taking on student drivers? the location doesn't really matter, I'd relocate.

I have had an app in with GTI since Oct 27, and can't even get them to return my phone calls!!! How did you get them to respond to you?
They seem like a good company, but I am more than a little disappointed in their lack of common courtesy skills. Alot of other co.'s as well, for that matter. I have been retired for 2 yrs, after owning my own company for 32 yrs. I have a perfect driving record with no accidents ever, and over forty yrs since a moving violation. Recent CDL school grad with endorsements for Haz-Mat ( FBI backgrond check completed and TSA approval letter in hand ), doubles/triples, and tankers. I've held an FAA private pilot's lic for 25 yrs. No criminal events of any kind, ever, and I don't drink. My US Passport is current and up to date. I consider myself a safe, responsible, and competent person. At the end of my road test, the DOT examiner told me I had the best score he had given that day ( I was the sixth and last of those he tested ), and he even offered this unsolicited comment: "Whichever company hires you will be getting a careful and safe driver."
Being retired is not all we envision it to be. While I may not be physically what I was forty yrs ago, I am still more than capable of becoming a safe and reliable truck driver. The apathetic response, or lack thereof, from the trucking co.'s I've applied to, is more than a little exasperating.
Any hints either you or anyone else can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Well i'm not sure if they're hiring students right now....that might be the reason why they haven't called or they are really slammed right now with tons of people applying. You have to bug your recruiter a lot and keep on them...Don't wait for them to call you back...I've seen their desks and can't believe how many app's they deal with...Good luck...On a side note, I just got back from Montana and Utah and winter is here for sure now.If you get hired by GTI, just be aware that you will be in some bad weather areas alot....It never got above 5 degrees in Montana...:biggrin_25521:

Thanks for the update Nicnat, I talked to a Gordon driver at a truck stop in Filer Idaho today and he had some nice things to say about Gordon. He has been with them 7 years and planed on staying. Can you give us an update on your weekly miles and routes of late?

Hmmmmm....I was personally told by those 'handing' out the new trucks in Pacific that noooooooooooooooo new drivers (meaning student drivers) were getting Cascadias. Maybe the drivers you've talked to are 'experienced' new drivers? I did receive mine on Nov. 6th, and have only driven for Gordon for 11 months. Of course, the columbia non apu truck I had, blew up on me in Sacramento earlier that week and the Freightliner in Sac told me it would be 'a while' before she would be ready to go. So, I slipped a truck in the Sac yard to Pacific for a new one.
Side note...Cascadias are not all they are cracked up to be. I would give my left n_t for a Columbia with an apu! The Cascadias have very limited storage space. The interior controls are designed more like they are in a car. Most importantly, Every time I pick up a heavy General Mills, Unilever, Grocery Outlet, etc. load I have to adjust my fifth wheel to get legal weights. Plus, I need to be very low on fuel. Ex. I picked up General Mills, Hannibal, MO. Had to get fuel twice a day, every day, to get to Moreno Valley. My advice, keep your truck as long as they'll let you. Oh yeah....Pacific has so many of the new trucks up there that they have nowhere to park when you get your load up there and want to take a break at the yard....
