I have a 2007 Vnl 630 about 4 weeks ago I noticed the radiator cooling fan came on and stayed on. I pulled over to see if any thing was wrong under the hood saw nothing, stared the truck and every thing went back to normal. The next day the fan came on with the engine and stayed on, I stopped the truck turned it off for 10 sec. and when I restarted it, it went back to normal. I could not recreate the situation for the mech. but the truck has been running like a top for the last 3 + weeks. but on the way home the fan came on and stayed on for like 30 min. I pulled over turned it off and back on and it went back to normal. So the question is what is going out or beginning to fail to cause this. Note the Fan Hub and Clutch are new or 2 mo. old. and it is an electric fan clutch. Pleas help all answers are appreciated. Thanks

Your a/c can cause the fan to come on, next time it does it, turn your a/c off for a couple minutes and see if it has any effect

Until it goes out for good it will keep doing this. It's a problem with the 06-07 volvos.. it's the fan survo going out.
The only way for a shop to see its bad it is IF you can drive in to the shop with it not working

if i remember right it's by the back of the motor on the passenger side on the frame rail, just follow the air line from the fan.... btw MOST of the time when they go out it will stick closed (fan WILL NOT turn on)... i had mine in the dealer 4 times and company shop 2 times before i could get it in when it was stuck. every time i would turn it off when i restarted it it would work find for a day or three before it would go stupid again and good old dealer if it;s not broke when you go in.... "well it checked out fine"

u do not have this on an electric fan. possible its something from a/c causing your fan to stay on most of the time on these volvos the ac control in the cab goes bad and causes the fan to keep running all the time

QUALITYTRUCK, flood and mikey747 Thank this.
