All you ever do is show up, start huge arguments amongst the members, then go dress up like your mom.

I think it's because you never listened to BTO as a kid.

In the 2009 dissenting Supreme Court opinion of McDonald v. City of Chicago. I thought the 4 liberal judges nailed it in that they have a much different interpretation of the 2nd amendment.
In other words there is no second amendment protection for individuals as far as guns are concerned. Armed with favorable gun control data from other Western Countries with gun bans and seeing as how we have an epidemic in this country. It may be prudent to allow heavier gun control in light of the need for the well being of our society as a whole. In time, I believe our country is on an inevitable path to this conclusion.

Do we though? I mean do we really have an "epidemic"? 19k deaths due to gun violence out of 330,000,000 people with over 400,000,000 guns?

Think about it like this - is it about saving lives, or is it about control? I ask that, because if it were straight up about saving lives, why not attack fast food and the obesity epidemic? Isn't it something like 29% of Americans are obese? That leads to all kinds of death. Heart disease, diabetes, etc. Like 600k deaths a year from heart disease. If it's about curbing death, then why don't we outlaw cigarettes and fast food?

Also, the vast vast VAST majority of gun deaths are with handguns. Of all my questions, could you just answer this one - why are we going after "scary black rifles", when we should be going after handguns?? Why go after the AR platform?

The numbers compared to other Western Countries is one of the big concerns. (it could be labeled an epidemic, probably more a political distinction, but whether it is labeled as such is not the point). The other is just the random nature of the extreme cases of innocent bystanders in these mass shootings. They do far more damage to the psyche of society as a whole. Again it is the old argument of the pursuit of happiness for all. Who's pursuit of happiness and freedom is more at stake. The gun holders, the victims or society as a whole. There will be a tipping point that will bring change.

It's pretty good, but it could use some more cowbell.

More guns hasn't lead to less crime or violence yet, but you're on the right track about responsibility. I've long thought we can't get rid of the overabundance of guns here, but making the people who feel the need to be responsible for their safety by refusing to leave home unarmed responsible for damages caused by their guns. But most of them won't even think about that, and the needless deaths continue.
