In the early 2000s those engines gained some popularity among line haul and regional fleets in the midwest .
Yes they were dogs and had some head gasket issues but they wernt bad on fuel and were cheap to overhaul , a buddy of mine bought 1 out of Ontario dirt cheap in a Columbia and it still ran good at 900k when he sold it for scrap because nobody would take it on trade ....it was rusty and ugly but it made money .

The tractor trailer company that I know, which had them crossed a bridge, traded them all in ASAP.
Several with dump trucks and roll offs doing OK with them. There are folks around here that will work on them. Would I recommend them? No. Never heard about the mileage that goes a long way.
Parts is tough all over. Cummins did not have a recon head for an ISM in America.
