    My family is from the Azores. The language is very different than main land or Brazilian. When I was a youngster, I did learn and spoke some. After years of not using it, I did not retain much. So long story is not really.

    Brazilian Portuguese is unique from Brasil only... sounds quite different from Portuguese from Portugal or any other place where Portuguese is spoken.
