I see it as being cheaper. 2 vehicles to purchase vs just 1. 2x the insurance and registration for 2 vehicles instead of just 1.
When I'm nice my pickup can break 20 mpg on the highway.

Did a nice, highspeed black diamond downhill. Cleared a few 8 foot transitions. Did have a minor patch out on one ramp though lol.

It's a matter of comfort. Been driving big trucks for 23 yrs, driving a car just feels weird. I feel like I can't see, it just don't feel right. My current ride is a 2019 RAM, 5.7 HEMI, 8 spd auto. We got a heck of a deal on it. There was a factory defect, which was fixed at the factory, but they couldn't sell it as new. So we got a brand new truck for a used price. I always look for a great deal. We ended up paying $32k, same specs came out to around $55k new if I remember right.
From a practical standpoint, only thing I'll ever use the bed for is maybe to bring an appliance home or something like that. So a big cab with comfortable seating and a nice ride is actually more important than bed size. And a pickup with a full size cab is more comfortable for passengers than most cars these days.Flint1, Gatordude, singlescrewshaker and 6 others Thank this. -
I was really looking for an extended cab which would have given me the 6.5 foot bed. Which I could then have put a flat bed on with no trouble in order to do what I'm wanting to do now. But extended cabs aren't as common and like I said wasn't something I was planning to do so crew cab and 5.5 bed wasn't out if the question. Just so happened I found a crew cab instead of an extended cab.
I wish I could hit 20. Hell I wish I could get above 14 really. Most of my driving is 60 miles one way running about 60 to 65 and 14.1 is the best I see on the dash. Thinking if I don't sell the truck and get a 3/4 ton before too long I'm going to swap to 37s and pull my rpms down a bit. 4.56s gears are great and all but I feel like I may have choosen a bit too steep for 35s. I turn 2k at 60.Flint1, singlescrewshaker, Tug Toy and 4 others Thank this. -
I'm quite impressed with the 5.0L for the most part. Lifetime average is sitting at just under 19 mpg mixed city/highway. Going by the computer anyways.Flint1, singlescrewshaker, Tug Toy and 4 others Thank this.

To each their own, I just often see it and wonder. Heck, my dually gets 21mpg. I tell you what though, if I could get away with a car, I would. Just alot easier to get around.Flint1, singlescrewshaker, Tug Toy and 3 others Thank this.

It's all good. Like I said, I often see folks with trucks that don't need them and I always wonder why. Heck, it's your money. I get it though, you want what you want. I ride my bike mostly anyways. I put around 12k on my bike last year and around 5k on my truck. When it's just me, I ride my bike. When we do family stuff, we take my wife's van. My truck is really just for farm stuff and odds/ends.Flint1, singlescrewshaker, Tug Toy and 6 others Thank this.

I mean $1600/year savings in insurance and registration on a second vehicle buys a lot of gas. For me its cheaper anyways.Flint1, singlescrewshaker, Tug Toy and 5 others Thank this.

I hope your having better luck with your tillage equipment then I am....
Yep that little piece laying there is the end of the recoil spring.
This is after it didn't want to start earlier. I took off the oil fill and a gallon of water ran out. I must of parked it perfect next to the shop door so the water coming off the roof filled the crankcase.
I'm gonna bolt this back on and go give it another try.....soon as I finish this beer.Flint1, singlescrewshaker, Tug Toy and 8 others Thank this.
