Hello guys me again with another problem jiji. Well my truck does regen. (I think ) it does it while driving. But the light don’t turn on. When I stop the high temperature light next to the DPF light turns on . And turns off when I start driving. I can see the rpms going up. I got a lil worried I had it forced regen. And while it was doing it the DPF regen light didn’t turn on just the temp.
    so my problem is
I don’t know if the truck is trying to do a regen or it’s actually doing it.
I drove 500 miles today and the high temp ligh was on 2 times
I think is too much if I had it forced regen a day before by a shop.

I really want to do a “D” but im a lil worried about “Cali” since it’s my primary route.

Likely related to the bad def you had earlier. Your truck is most likely trying to purge the last of the garbage you put into it with "normal" road regens. If your real worried you can try to do a forced regen. Otherwise keep an eye on it for a day or two and it should go away on its own. If not or it gets worse i would find a shop as you may have clogged or broke a sensor or injector with the bad def.

DEF has absolutely nothing to do with DPF regeneration.

The regen light may only come on when the soot load or DPF pressure reaches a certain threshhold. If the truck is completing passive regens this is good. But your right to be concerned about the frequency. Have your regen report reviewed and start thinking about having the filter cleaned or replaced. If done recently wonky dpf pressure sensors are commonplace for frequent regens.

If a truck is regen going down the road you won't get any lights or warning. You might get the hot exhaust warning if you stop or get off highway during a regen. Just to let you know it hot and don't park on the grass.

Your truck is doing just as it should..

Your truck has 4 different regens...

#1 Passive: this is when your parked.. idle will go up to about 800 for 10-20 min. And will it every 4-10 hrs

#2 rolling: this is the most common. If everything is working right it almost impossible to tell its doing it. You MAY feel a change in power (a little less) a 5° change in coolant change, a change in the tone of the truck. This is more a thorough cleaning. truck will do it when it needs to, every 5-10 hrs

#3 parked: this only needs to be done if a rolling regen didn't get the def clean enough and takes 30min-1hr.

#4: forced: this requires some to plug into the truck to make it do a regen. 39min-1hr

Now to your light (high exhaust temp) the light came on because you slowed to under 5mph when it was doing a rolling regen and went off when you started driving and went over 5mph, that's just what it's suppose to do... reread #2... and yes if your timing is right in a 500mile day you could catch it 2 or 3 times

    BTW I have a 2015 cummins ISX15. I bought it it had 407k it now has 591k.
Number of time I've done a parked regen = ZERO..
number of forced regens = 1.
