I'm crazy, not totally insane lol. I was a company van/reefer driver for 7 or so years back in the late 90's. I went to a place that had an old dump truck with a pintle hitch trailer, paid the $60 or $70 to practice on the lot for 30 minutes, then did my preptrip, closed course parallel and dock parking, and took the road test. Like I said, failed the road test the first go around because I wasn't S.W.I.F.T.'ing it. At all. lol
15 or so years away from trucking gave me a chance to learn how to wrench along with how not to run a for profit business, among other things. I'd like to say I'm getting the hang of things, but just had a 6,000 rpm buffer wheel take a trip up my arm today to keep me humble lol.
Not independent now either. Originally, it was the plan, but then sticker shock for new entrant insurance, combined with pulling flatbed which I've never done, I wasn't sure I'd be able to juggle it all on top of waiting up to 90 days to get paid. I'm leased onto a great company that offered the freedom to do pretty much whatever I want, along with the safety net of some good direct customers. I hate (government required) paperwork and it's nice to just have someone handle billing and pretty much do all the stuff I would dread.Last edited: Apr 26, 2021

I can hear mine. It is in the rear clip somewhere. Just can't find out where. I notice it more when I'm loaded. Yet....it eludes me.Eldiablo, PoleCrusher, DeereRunner97 and 5 others Thank this.

you are perfectly normal. At least that is what the voices in my head told me. I mean I know they are not real. But some days they have some really good ideas.

Kinda ties in with "shaky puddin", I think...Eldiablo, PoleCrusher, DeereRunner97 and 7 others Thank this.

Yeah, had one of those leaking that I replaced yesterday. I think it is airbags too, because it depends on how my truck sits aswell. I thought it was my leveling valve....alas....not that easy. So, I will keep looking.cke, Eldiablo, PoleCrusher and 8 others Thank this.

Hahaha! Just assumed you belong in an asylum?!

I think every one who frequents this sandbox has to have a bit of "ain't right" built into em.. LoL
The paperwork really isn't all that bad, I think... I just pawn it off on my lady, gives her something to do, & someone to blame!!
But one does have to stay on top of it. Some 3 or 4 letter government acronym is always looking for a paycheck. Heck, last October I had my authority yanked for about 8 days for their screw up. I ended up getting a letter saying FMCSA removed it from the record. Closest thing to an apology the Gov't will cop to..
Yeah, I can see that. Being totally reliant on the spot market can be rough at times..
Sounds nasty..
Hopefully the arm heals up quick..

I doubled up on the aleve tonight.... Gonna run down to Chillicothe tomorrow and hwy 5 just beats me up in my old junk.
Mama was dippin' in my ice cream bucket tonight.... Luckily she left me enough for a shake and she hasn't got into my stash of peanut butter Easter eggs I make it with.cke, beastr123, singlescrewshaker and 5 others Thank this. -
Jack it up. Take the arm off the leveling valve and slightly push it up. Not a ton to blow a bag but enough to make it rise up an inch or so to expose the lower portion of the bag that usually rides on the cone.
Had a hopper that I was "borrowing" until mine got out of the shop when I ran for deltark. It only leaked when loaded. Ended up having a small split where the bag and the cone part meet at the bottom. Empty it wouldn't leak. Loaded it would.
I've got a small leak in my truck as well that I think is also the leveling valve but I haven't dug into it yet as it's a tiny leak.
Also got a weird flutter/whine noise when I'm on the brakes so I'm leaking at the pedal or have an air line leak or a pin hole in a can diaphragm possibly.Lostkeys, cke, singlescrewshaker and 7 others Thank this.
