Routing a new cosx in 579 Peterbilt daycab

Why are you messing with it..Why not run the cophase..

 

If the cophase is still working I'd try to save it in case you ever want to go back.

If you can manage to fish some stiff wire through and tape your coax to it you might be able to pull the new coax through.
I had to desolder the pl259 connector on the new coax to get mine pulled through in the Kenworth T800 without taking the entire head console out.

 

I drove a 2017 579 Sleeper. It had cab mounted antennas. I think the day cabs are mounted the same.. I don’t remember. However it isn’t just regular coax you can replace. The antenna mounts have a smaller female end like TV cable. Then the radio end is the normal coax male end for CB. If you decided to run new coax, you will have to have a similar end that is on the mount soldered on one end of the new coax. Also you can get an adapter if you don’t want to go that route. I don’t think it was ran cophased at all. The second antenna served as the AM/FM antenna. I may be wrong because I do not remember completely. I went ahead and just got better antennas and it worked great.

 

To access the antenna mount. Pop off the plastic cover for it on the outside. Should be couple of Allen screws under the cover.. mabye bolts? Then you can pull the mount off and see everything. It’s not hard at all.
