Hello all,
I have a bit of a brain tickler here. When i am in park with the cruise control on I idle the truck up to 1000 rpm at bedtime like everyone else. However it will sporadically act like the key is being turned off.. as the truck is winding down it gets to about 300 rpm and then the truck comes back to life and goes up to base idle and stays there.
I thought it was in the cruise control circuit but, I may be wrong...
I tried turning off the cruise circuit.. left the park brake on and held the idle at 1000 rpm with my foot and it happened again. When the idle is dropping there is no response on the fuel pedal.. it's dead.. for about 5 seconds and then comes back to life... I suspect the problem is in the park brake circuit.. I'm not too sure..
Any suggestions would be appreciated as I can't seem to figure it out...

I am very shocked anyone who owns an emissions truck, idles. I would never own one without an APU. That being said has it ever idled properly?

Set it at high idle and wiggle engine harness. Just keep hands away from moving parts. If engine stumbles your harness might be on its way out .. my 2009 I had years started out that way before it started stalling on the road . It took 5 shops numerous attempts and parts to fix a harness that a old timer found in minutes by wiggling harness.
Dale74 Thanks this. -
Thank you. I will try the harness. Hopefully it works!
