I've seen a few guys wear button down shirt and a tie do well.
Every rolling roach hotel definitely get's their attention.
We started, two and three at a time replacing 10 - 15 year old [completely tired] Macks with Penske Volvos and Cascadias and moved our 3 box trucks [over tired] into two year old Penske Freightliners [re-leasing used was an error, switched to custom made new Freightliners in 19, much better for alitte cost increase] and our road side history changed dramatically.
Upside, we get a lot more 'No violation found' roadsides. Down side we are relatively close to the NJ MCSAP headquarters in Princeton. One guy caught one body mount bolt loose on one new box truck and they popped all three before we could get to Penske. Those bolts won't be loose again.
Yeah, I know leasing isn't for everyone but for a warehouse company 'with trucks' and no maintenance save for the local 'Joe FixIt' it was just the ticket. Their shop is less than two miles away.
Maintenance included. We switched from the Volvos to Cascadias for the closer and better parts availability and less downtime than the Volvos. Free rental while they fix their truck [wear and tear] the last Volvo was in there for 45 shop hours on their dime.
It works for us. and my overall fleet appearance stays above average cause no repair [our fault or theirs] gets past the scheduled maintenance sessions and we use their preferred body shop with no griping from our insurance for cost free turn ins. The first two just rolled over and so will 5 in the next two years, more Cascadias to come.Last edited: May 2, 2021

Bottom line, button down or safety vest ultimately doesn't matter. What matters is they're two different ways of demonstrating that you put out more effort than just the bare minimum. I've merely devised myself a way to make that show in more comfort than most, and I couldn't care less what you or any other hater thinks about it.
It's not that I have anything to hide anyway - except maybe a certain alleged pee bottle that was maliciously rumored to exist. It's just that I prefer getting miles, rather than than getting inspected.Last edited: May 3, 2021

Maybe I’m an exception, Blitz week comes and goes every year and I don’t even notice. I have only had 3-4 inspections over 17 years. None were during blitz week. This was many different carriers with varying conditions of equipment.
