Found the capstone lumper. Not being prepared for a retarded situation doesn't change the fact that its a retarded situation. The irony was that the lumper guy could get food practically anywhere/anytime. I could not, and only because he chose to take lunch instead of just bang it out for a few more minutes to finish the job. I've loaded and unloaded my trailers since then... --many times. Never have I just halfway unloaded a trailer of six pallets to go smoke or eat a sandwich. Not saying I shouldn't have been prepared. Just saying its silly for you to miss the actual point of the post and point out some anecdote like you never made a rookie mistake before.
You know you're in trouble when...

Everyone has to learn that loading and delivery can take forever and be in far-flung locations without services, but the callousness of the people involved in that situation never ceases to surprise- everyone else knows their facility is far-flung and without services but a naive driver without anything to eat or no where to relieve him/herself for 10+ hours gets no sympathy- not even from fellow drivers.
I will never hesitate to offer some fresh fruit or a soup to a fellow driver next me if we're both in a bad situation.
Most callous places to deliver are often along the border- they actually have bathrooms accompanied by signs saying "no drivers".
I drove for an outfit on the border once that had a bathroom in the office that drivers weren't aloud to use. There was a port-a-potty outside for the drivers.
Just hold your nose while doing a walk-around on your trailer before leaving.Crude Truckin', Lumper Humper and JerseyBarrierRacer Thank this. -

This from an actual direction sheet handed me by my dispatcher:
"When you get to the post office, turn right, after 3 miles the road turns to dirt, at the first Y go left, at the second Y go right, at the third Y go left, don't drive through the puddles, they are deep"
The Post office was the only building in "town"JolliRoger, Hammer166, slow.rider and 5 others Thank this. -
