That depends on where you are going. You just passing through Manhattan to Brooklyn? Or do you have a stop off in Manhattan?
-
delivery in manhattan i'm just curious how trucks get in there is there more than one way? like say eastern new york i guess it would be the 278 and take the verranzano bridge then the manhattan bridge or over the GW and trot through harlem?
-
I know I crossed the Manhattan Br. a couple times. To get to Brooklyn from up there I would use 87 south to the Triborough and down 278. To get in Manhattan I would say it probably depends on what part you are going to as to whether to come in via the G.W. and Harlem or go down to the Manhattan Br. I'm not sure if you can cross the Quensboro Br. or not?

thnx for the file biscuit yea ive been along the bqe ( 278 ) a couple of years ago and had to keep getting off heading towards brooklyn due to low bridges finally at one point i got off but couldnt get back on and got screwed in an intersection lets just say that vehicules had to be towed to get me out of there and it cost me close to 3000 bucks with that ordeal blahhhhhh

Huh, I never had a problem going up or down the BQE with 13'6" trailer.
But I hope that file works for you and maybe someone else can pipe in and help even more. -
What address are you going to on the island? Give us that and we can get you in there the EASIEST way!
I will tell you one thing...DO NOT GO IN WITHOUT A FOLD OUT PAPER MAP! PERIOD!
Even if you have directions!
If you do you will get screwed up as Murphy's Law says you will!
Stop and get the fold out Rand McNalley NOT the plastic fast map! I've been doing NYC for 30 years and I still will NOT go in without that map! And I even use PC Miler on my laptop! The paper can be folded and you can mark on it and bring it up close so you can look at it while driving. And NO you won't be driving over other cars as you'll be doing 20 MPH at best! Just don't stare at it and you'll do fine!
I bet I know where you got screwed up on the BQE. You were EB and saw the sign just before exit 27 for Atlantic Ave and you dove off there! FYI. When you see that sign get into the center lane or you WILL loose the top right of your trailer! That's why the sign is there! And Atlantic is so much fun! Next time you go through there look at the top corner of the over head and look at all the gouges !
also look at this http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/html/motorist/trucks.shtml -
Best NYC street map is the Hagstrom maps. Most detailed and even have block numbers. They sell them at all the truck stops and service plazas. They have a yellow cover. I would not go to NYC without it.
-
Yeah BUT you have to keep turning pages to keep up to where you are! Yes get it also and mark your spot from it to the paper map!

I'm a multi-tasker.
