changing engine problem

in western star tractor, changed engine from cat 3406e to N14 cummins.
trk will run only if you use starting fluid. cant get it to crank or run without.
any idea what may be problem?

Could tons of things. Wiring wrong, wrong ECM setup, incorrect fuel line connection.

How are you able to run it on starting fluid if it doesn't crank?

Is that an n14 mechanical or electronic?

If it is electronic how did you go about changing the wiring?
