I take drugs and want to drive a CMV, will this disqua.....just kidding.
I'm about to have a medical procedure done and the recovery is going to suck. The doc will give me a prescription for some sort of pain killer. If I refrain from driving while I'm taking the meds and have the logs to prove it will I still get in a world of #### if I get a random drug test through my consortium?

As long as you have a valid prescription you're good(As I was told). I went through this 5 months ago.....

Plus, don't be afraid to talk to your doctor. They might be able to adjust what they were going to give you if it's an issue.
Show him the list of drigs tested for and see if there is an alternative.

Yeah, that's kind of the rub. I'm not going to be driving while recovering for a week or so I estimate. My only proof will be my ELD logs, as I'm a 1 man, 1 truck operation I'm hoping that will be sufficient. Once I start work again the pain killers will go strait down the toilet. I'm just concerned about a drug test ruining my business during that week. I know it's unlikely but I'd rather cover my ### and be sure of things.

Like ZVar said tell your Doc you are a driver and get something that isn't on the banned list

Larger companies usually have a 72 or similar hr policy after last dose

Had a root canal, they gave me vicodin, called co the day after, they sent a form for me to sign and email back certifying i was off the painkiller, 72 hrs after i sent it, i was rolling again.

If you have to do a drug test, just put down *procedure* *drug* in the relevant spot

If you do feel recovered enough from what ever doc. will fix about 3or 4 days of drinking plenty of water will flush it out after your recovery, but do not rush back to work if you don't feel right from op. yet?

If you only expect one week recovery, there are plenty of pain killers that don't pop hot. After all, if it's that minor it's not like you need morphine.....
Also, if you are a one truck operation, can't you simply put it off until the end of the quarter? @Moose1958 how would that work for single truck operations?
