Snakeskin, Monday should be good because of MNF. I don't know how much you know about trucking but NEVER ask a trucker what they are hauling. Ok to ask were they are heading, what they pull; reefer, flat bed, ect. Should be easy because you might not even have to say much and just listen to the conversations in the TV room as you watch football. If you go tonight let us know how it went and if something catches your ear and you didn't know what they were talking about ask here. Good luck

Thanks for the reply Znine, I went down this morning and there wasnt anybody hangin out in the tv room, so I had a bowl of chili in the resturant, listened to a couple of guys talking about the snow on donner. I hope to get the final approval for funding on my cdl school next wed and start the following monday. I have my permit and very much want to go with WS. I have spoken to Sandy up there and she says that I look good to them at this point after I get out of school with a tentative Or. date of Jan 25th for the 10 day. Where are you heading? I would love to talk to a WS driver in person to get the skinny on how they like the company, and how the trucks treat them. I am not sure if I can PM you with my cell if you want to talk sometime, I am new to this stuff but if you can PM me and want to enlighten a newb feel free. I will reply with my #.

Snakeskin, sounds like a good start. I am not a driver at all. The only reason I am here is because I am afraid of layoff at my current job. I have done OTR for a year and would get back to driving if I had to. I like the sounds of WS because they have a terminal in my town and 10 day training for people that already have cdl's. If you don't hear much from WS drivers that is a good sign because they are most likley driving.

NICE MIKE!!!!! Awesome. I'm a couple days too early to meet you as I'll probably be out of here by tomorrow or wednesday. I might run through here again before your done your training. I always introduce myself and you'll look at me and think (he doesn't look old enough to drive truck)

    Best of luck!

    Mike_NC Thanks this.

WOW!! You are so lucky Mike! I still have to wait for almost 2 months....good news is I take my permit tests next week. Confirmed hazmat is not required, but I will try for the endorsement anyways, so I can be as valuable to the company as possible....

Snakeskin, I may get to meet you if you are starting the 10 day on Jan 25. I will be starting the 30 day on or about Feb 1.

Matt, how's the weather there in Missoula today? Cold (for Cali), rainy and windy here....getting me ready for the Montana weather. How's your miles been lately? Hopefully you will be able to make a pass thru Missoula sometime in Feb and we can meet up.

    Stay safe out there!

    Mike_NC Thanks this.

I had to go buy a new winter jacket today. I figured my old hunting jacket with dried blood on it might get me strange looks going through the airport. lol

    Hi Lynch,
Do you ever come through vacavill/fairfield ca by travis afb? if so pm me so i can say hi. Did you finance your trainning and if so how does it work at WS. 250 down and the rest out of your check each month??? I want to have a back up plan just in case my grant falls thru. All I do is think about being a trucker, it really has been a lifelong dream. Some folks dream of being a pilot or a doctor... for me since I was a kid riding with my dad it's being a trucker!

Znine thanks again for the comeback and good luck with the layoof (i mean i hope it doesnt happen!)

    Mike,
What time are you getting in? I'm supposed to arrive around 1230. It looks like we will get to learn how to chain up in the "chilly" weather!
