Why is milk hauling bashed so much?

BecUse it’s not steering down the highway for endless Mind numbing hours.
Milk is A real job! My nephew just took over dairy farm and works diligently to move snow for ease of entry of milk and feed trucks. Your arrival is greatly anticipated and much required
Not a job for prima donnas and panty wearing girly boys

 

I don't recall ever hearing anybody bashing Milk Haulers. It sounds like a great job to me. Keep up the good work.

People been picking on farmers for eons, and if they only knew. I'm sure some folks actually believe milk comes from the back room at Walmart. I come from N.Wis. and the biggest deterrent there is pay+ long hours. Many outfits still pay "farmboy" wages, if they can get anyone at all. It's a tough job, 20 below morning, 6:30 am, here comes the milk truck ( mostly Kenworths) I did a short stint, my friends parents ran a small milk hauling outfit in the 70's-'80's, 2 single axle trucks, very local, but they got a Mack tri-axle with an increased area and wanted me to run it. I spent all day with this guy, some pickups were really small, maybe a couple dozen cows, those ma and pa farms are all gone now. He dropped me off at 4pm, and still had to unload like 2 hours away. He typically didn't get home before 9pm, all for $7.25/hr. ( at the time, maybe $15/hr. today) I've worked at a couple farms, good people, give you cookies, a meal, and in the event of a breakdown, what better place than a farm? There could just be someone waiting in the milkhouse too.( the urban legends were true) Many times, in rural areas, the milk truck driver is the only person these farmers saw all week. Once, my "trainer" said, "this next farm, will be a young girl waiting in the milkhouse, she's like 16, never left the farm, and the parents wanted the driver to "hook up with her",,,sure enough, we pull in, there she was( nothing happened,,,but could of, I bet)
Today, those little farms have been bought out by the "megas", with thousands of cows, and only buy the farms to get rid of the manure, a seldom talked about subject. These mega farms produce MILLIONS of gallons of waste. Just pray they don't dispose of it in your area.
