    Ouch!

Thought this was going to be quick trip to the shop and a few hundred bucks....turned out I was wrong!

Drivers side window had a crack running top to bottom and passengers side had several smaller sized cracks. Also wanted to have the computer update to allow me to faster than 70 mph when I wanted to or needed to. Noticed the last few times that the Jake’s weren’t always working as well. Just maintenance stuff right.....

The east stuff was just a corroded clutch ordeal switch and got my Jake’s back. Computer update took all of about 30 minutes with no issues.

Front windshields....well here we have an issue. Mask around the windshield is rusted severely, to the point it needs replaced. In order to get to it the entire roof needs to come off and the dash torn apart. $5500 later and I will have the $300 windshields replaced.

    Petrobilt...

You always have problems, you always have to dig deeper into your pockets, you will always pay more for everything... yet you don't get paid any more than any other truck...

Don't get it, never did, never will.

While i understand your point I would submit that you do get paid more when you go to the sell the truck.
A non running Pete is still worth more than the scrap metal value, far more.

After you pay the Peterbilt tax a few times, I'm not seeing the margin. That being said, I'd still buy a Pete if I didn't have my sights set on a Western Star. I don't care about resale value or upkeep cost. I care about what makes me happy.

After thinking about this further and looking at other makes of trucks, I’m not sure this is more expensive of a fixed then any other brand.
Again, the mask that holds the windshield in place Has to be replaced because of rust. On a 379 this mask is a riveted box if you will around the windshield. On other brands if the rust was in the same spot and you were going to fix it you basically would have to buy an entire brand new cab.

A peterbilt will always be more expensive to buy and always have better resale. Talking 379/389 in good condition.
I run a 379 and don't really think I have to pay any more for parts than any other manufacturer. Granted I haven't bought parts for anything else but I don't recall buying any parts recently and thinking Holy crap that's expensive. And there's loads of aftermarket suppliers too.
Now take a john deere tractor. Almost every time you buy parts for one of those you will ask for lube with it and there's really no aftermarket.

I like my 379 because I can work on it easily. Open the hood and there sits the entire engine.
