8 hr wait followed by the sign "drivers must leave keys at receiving window"... I politely ask what their procedure here is (lights, paper work exchange etc) & she says "we'll let you know, I need your keys" ... Now I know its SC and its NOT freezing outside but it IS 40° this morning & after sitting in this parking lot for 8 hrs I'm short tempered. I tell the receiving clerk its 40° & my trailer is secured to the building with a dock lock, what's the point of taking my keys? Her answer... "you can give me your keys or we wont unload you" & points at the sign.

    alds Thanks this.

Your reply should be “how longs it gonna take ? I already been waiting eight effing hours !
And where’s the drivers waiting room?”

you have blankets or a sleeping bag right ?

and you should have a spare set of keys hidden under the truck.
What if you get 2000 miles away from home and lose the keys ? Or lock them in the truck ?

I leaned that the hard way .

When they request your keys tell them you need their cell phone and computer so they don’t get distracted and get you unloaded in a reasonable amount of time. Guys gotta have fun with this stuff.... give them stupidity right back. What’s to lose? Already sitting for 8 hours.

So just to satisfy my curiosity I checked google reviews on zf transmission laurens sc... wow. I'd encourage anyone to read, I'm pretty sure it's the worst reviewed company I've ever seen from a drivers perspective

Exactly what I was going to say. When I bumped docks I always kept 3 keys. I give them the first and if I get caught with the 2nd I still have the 3rd. Lol! Seems like a lot of BS. But I’m sure some dummy pulled away from the dock at some point while being unloaded to cause this dumbness!

Always give them a dummy key. When I ran OTR I had a whole key ring of fake keys and if a shipper/receiver asked for keys that’s what they got.

Give them a screwdriver and say that your ignition switch been broken for a while.

I go here frequently. I don’t like their process but I can get good money since a lot of people have wiped their hands of zf due to the wait times. When I don’t feel like turning my truck off I just give them a different set of keys.
