How many of you have pulled for power only companies? We are finding out it’s next to impossible to rent a trailer there is a big time trailer shortage right now. We’ve watched some videos on guys who are making it pulling for Amazon and jb hunt as power only but was wanting the majority take on running this way. We thinking if we pulled for power only companies to start out just to get enough saved to buy a trailer that maybe this would be way to go.
Power only companies?

Do you have your own authority?
How much do you want to rent a trailer for?Midwest Trucker Thanks this. -
What type of trailer? Where are you located thereabouts? That all makes a big difference.
slow.rider Thanks this. -
Most of the people who have their own authority wouldn't have it any other way, and many of the people who lease their tractor to a fleet wouldn't have it any other way. Schneider, USA Truck, Mercer, Landstar are a few more that pay decent.

We will have our authority in approx 1 week. We live in the Midwest. It is our understanding that people rent 53’ dry van trailers for 500 a month and then cents per mile. But I’ve watched Wild Beard trucking and he seems to be doing good just doing Power only for Amazon and now he is onto Jb Hunt. So my husband is thinking that route to at least make more money then what we currently are then we could have an aged authority and buy a trailer in 3-4 months

If he was doing good with Amazon. Why did he switch to JB?

There are plenty of trailers for sale and lease. Since you dont have a trailer, you're probably best off doing that lease deal with JB Hunt, where you run their freight in their trailers (d&h) but you run under your authority/insurance and aren't leased exclusively to them.
