Partial placards ?

Today's driver: Look for a reason not to work vs look for a solution.

 

I’d do whatever I could to be able to reach it. I’m the same way with OCD. Most guys at my company can reach them and just cover the remaining with duct tape. They won’t use the placard holders.

Helpful hint. If you dont have tape or plastic sheets to hold placards in holders, you can jam a little sliver of a pallet in along an edge and it will hold well.

 

It is a violation, but maybe less likely to attract scrutiny with no numbers showing. I'd likely have accepted it and informed your company there might be a delay while you figure it out. Maybe drive to the first TA/Petro, step into the shop and ask to borrow their ladder. If you're stopped on the way, inform the officer up front of your awareness and intention. Or maybe the railyard's chassis repair corner has a ladder you or they can use. Or maybe lay some duct tape on a broom and reach up there with it.

Analytical thinking and it's not even his problem

 

Had something like this a few years back. Had half a flamable placcard on a tanker we had cleaned out to move fresh water in an aquard place i couldn't reach without a ladder. So i dropped the trailer and bobbed to the home depot about 15 mins down the road and got one of those bug sprayer extensions you stick on a pole like this one https://www.homedepot.com/p/DocaPol...ns-Pole-Not-Included-DP-TreeSprayer/314616562 and a can of white spray paint. Stuck it onto the end of my dipstick and used it to paint over the placcard remains.

Sometimes a little problem solveing goes a long way to getting a load.
