Yes. It has been brought up in several threads. You could do a 34-hour reset and still be in violation because you didn't do 7 hours in the sleeper. Yes, it's dumb.

That's insane. I take my 34's at home. No way I should have to remember to put in Sleeper Berth when I wasn't even 'at work'. I'm not doubting you @not4hire but I personally would fight that one.

My question was regarding the 2-3 hour break that can either be off duty that stops the 14 hour clock. Apparently that if you do not combine it with a 7-8 hour sleeper berth, that time counts against the 14 hour in duty. Yes, it makes no sense that if I were to use it to get home, then went off duty, if 7-8 hours of that off duty aren't in the sleeper, it's a violation.

From the perspective of the regulator, you likely sleep more soundlee in the sleeper berth than in the bed in your bedroom, therefore you need to stay out in the truck for the first 7-8 hours......

    :D

From what I've read some drivers saying, that may be the truth!

Here, have a look at this website to see just what's in store in the future. It's from the UK so they have traveled further down the wormhole than we have managed to make it on this side of the pond. But there is plenty of time, and we have some true believers in the cause, they will get us there in time.

    Welcome to the Department

Depends on the ELD and how the company elects to set it up ... Mine automatically assumes a split and stops the 14 after 2 hours.

Ok, never used this but was reading up on it. Started my clock this morning. 4 hours later I'm sitting at my shipper. I've been sitting for over 3 hours now waiting in a lot to be called.

If I'm reading this right, I can log it off duty/sleeper and it freezes my 14? Or am I confusing myself?

Yep ... That is the essence of it.

The mechanics of though depend on how your ELD is set up to implement it and if your carrier even permits it.
