What we ought to do is continue treating the planet as both an infinite pantry and an infinite garbage dump.

I agree we need to always do our best to keep our air and water clean. That being said, the planet has been heating and cooling since it began. It is cyclical. As the planet heats. The ice caps melt. Dumping fresh, not saline, water into the oceans. This causes the saline level to fall. Decreasing the currents. Which in turn causes the planet to cool again. Freezing the ice caps. Increasing the saline, and picking up the currents again. It's the saline content of the ocean that actually causes the currents. Interesting fact you might not have know about.

 

The amount of temperature change in the past fifty years normally takes thousands of years.

 

Ahh we’re all going to die sometime. Let a super volcano or 2 erupt. We will be in one heck of an Ice age. I try to do my part but in the end we can’t control climate. Live life and if the world ends tomorrow so be it. It was here long before us snd will be here long after. We are but just a speck in the time lapse of human history.

 

The problem honestly is the rest of the world. The US is one of the cleanest running countries, if not the cleanest. Again I say clean water and air are worth fighting to keep. But other countries don't have the same thoughts. China for a start. So really, no matter what we do here. It won't matter in the big picture. But yeah @jason6541 you are right. If Yellow Stone did go up, and it wasn't during hurricane season, we'd be seeing a very sudden ice age.

 

While clean air and water are great and yes we have a clean country overall. Money to be made in USA beating the tree hugger band wagon. Yep, China ,India Russia and other countries have no interest in cleaning up the environment. The west coast is going flipping nuts about the ####. But it blows over across the pacific. Granted that Southern CA air is better but it’s still a sewer pit. Surrounded by mountains that capture the smog in the basin.
Volcanoes erupt all the time continuously
Spewing toxin into the air at very high levels. Where’s the particulate filter on them. ( being sarcastic). Truth is the planet is overpopulated.
Wind farms. Let’s build thousands then in 10 to 15 years they can’t be recycled. Bury the blades made out of fiberglass and toxic resins in the desert and let the chemicals leach into the ground. Gee sounds like a green alternative to me.
Solar panels heat up the earth around them and are not great to recycle. But hey it green and gives people the warm fuzzies and fills companies pockets making them. Electric cars snd trucks batteries can’t be recycled safely or environmentally friendly ways. Let’s pollute millions of gallons of water with toxic chemicals. Then tear up the earth strip mining for minerals. Yep sounds environmental friendly to me.

 

People say the world has been here for billions of years and in the next breath they predict it will self destruct by one of probably 30 different outcomes within the next few years. That’s part of the problem I have with evolution and science and man’s reasoning in general.

 

Except for the fact that the children have to live in the mess we create. Some of us give a crap, whereas the rest of us are psychopaths.
