LaRussa is wrong. There's no crying in baseball!

The unwritten rules of baseball turn me off.....

Tony LaRussa needs to retire. Again.
mjd4277 Thanks this. -
There's too much money in sports these days. Players can make or lose millions from a minor change in their stats. That's why so many basketball players intentionally delay their last second long range prayer shots until after the buzzer, so it doesn't count as a missed shot attempt, because they get a bonus if their annual fg% is above a certain number.
LaRussa comes from the days when most players still had to hold down regular jobs in the offseason in order to pay the bills, and they didn't mind stepping back from the limelight when the situation called for it, nor did they mind tossing up a prayer and letting the failure count against their stats. And fans didn't have to pay a months salary to buy a ticket to a game.Last edited: May 19, 2021

So if the Twins had scored 11 runs in the next inning and the final score was 16-15 would he still be upset? Swing away, it's supposed to be the major leagues, there's no mercy rule in MLB. If the Twins suck that bad that's their problem.

Baseball doesn't have a time limit either. Nobody wants to sit around all day watching a game that's 67-5 with no hope of ending any time soon. And pitchers need to warm up, cool off, and rest their arms overnight. It's not good for them to sit around for an hour while their team bats around twice and then come out and pitch some more.Last edited: May 19, 2021

I read more about this because I thought there had to be more to it. I was wrong there isn't, LaRussa is just an idiot. There is a reason you don't swing on a 3-0 count but it had nothing to do with sportsmanship, you do it because you're facing a pitcher who likes to paint the corners and edges of the zone and you want him to throw pitches. You do it to up his pitch count, sportsmanship has nothing to do with it.
Never, and I mean never, throw your player under the bus. LaRussa screwed up twice: he didn't keep his gripe in the clubhouse and he didn't defend his player when he was thrown at the next day. I would have had a serious problem with him had he ever been my manager. -
If I was Yermin I would’ve whacked that ball into Lake Superior or the Mississippi just to see the expression on LaRussa’s face! That alone would be well worth the price of admission!!
N00bLaLoosh Thanks this.
