Replacing DPF Filters - Legit?

    My local Freightliner shop has updated me with information that Freightliner no longer recommends baking or cleaning of DPF boxes and now offers replacements of the filters, which came out to about $2,350 for my truck. Not as expensive as replacing the entire box, but still a lot more expensive than the $300-500 I usually pay to get it baked and cleaned once a year. The shop told me it was over issues with having codes being thrown and inaccurate readings after a cleaning service, but I've never had any issues. Is this just another stealership scheme to rip off owner-operators, or is there any truth behind this? Thinking of finding a different shop that will still clean my DPF.

    I wouldn’t trust anything a stealership says, for them it’s all bout the money. Stay away from them. Find a another shop

    That's because they need to reset the soot level to zero after the cleaning. They're just scamming people.

    Depends on the reason for cleaning. Cummins wouldn't clean a DPF that was oil soaked.

    Some shops suck for cleaning them, others do just fine.
    Odds are freightliner outsourced the cleaning and the vendor sucked and caused them a bunch of warranty work.
