I'm sure more is here to be had for sure. It's really a matter of being in the right place at the right time with enough left on your hours of service to get the job done. Other than that just doing the normal stuff such as being on time and providing good customer service with customers and brokers is a good practice to observe. That and good communication with dispatch are the things that are in your control. Beyond that your miles an paychecks are pretty much in the hands of the planners and dispatch.

Mine did that when it was extremely cold, this past winter. If I didn't start it up as soon as I cut the truck off, it would chug along like you say. I think it works better when you idle for a bit first. In the old 670, I had to do that with regularity.

I averaged 2800 miles from the time I got into the 760 a little over a year ago. 2800 miles are good miles. I'd even go so far to say that's above average. I never ran that many in a week with any other company besides Climate and believe it or not, Western Express. Lol....I do agree, a driver can't get discouraged, especially when its forced dispatch. I tell new hires that if they take care of the load their under, everything else will take care of itself. Some people get discouraged about short runs. They can be your friend sometimes. I like going to Mars in Fort Smith or to General Mills in Belvidere. Simply because you can run those straight through.

Your mind will definitely tell you that...a driver can only run what he/she's dispatched on. I sometimes wonder when they put drivers on the local runs, if dispatch is seeing whether a driver will ##### a big one, or simply do business.

I totally agree....and I'll add that the backhaul is really the key to making the money here. The faster you get back, the better the paycheck is. I love when I have drops. That's the green light to get off quick.

The local stuff i think is just stuff they needed covered and one of us just happened to be in the area at a convenient time to be able to get it handled. I was even told to send a message and ask for city pay when they give us stuff like that to do.
