Leasing is a proven financial method for many assets in operating a business, from vehicles to machinery to commercial property. Where the water gets murky is leasing from the same company that you work for.

If your young, and it will get you into a truck of your own, may be worth bitting the bullet, running hard for a while and owning your own truck in the long run, otherwise you can sit here for another 3 or 4 years telling other drivers what they did wrong, and in the end the lease driver just maybe an operator and your still a company driver complaining about the fleece deals.
Everybody makes there choice, I advised my son to go with a lease 4 years ago, he is now independant in the tractor he used to lease from PRIME, and now happily hauls chemicals in his own rig ( Now owns his own tanker).

Frankly I don't know why anybody would bother taking on the hassles and financial liability of running their own power unit these days. With a few exceptions there just ain't enough money in it when good paying company jobs for $70-80k or more are out there. By the time the payments, fuel and all other overhead expenses are paid for you may find that whatever extra you end up with at the end of the year maybe ain't worth it. That truck will basically rule your life and be a pain in the butt in ways a company truck never could be. It sounds fun at first and it kind of is for awhile, but you'll get sick of the shop bills, parts bills, downtime that costs you, and laying underneath it greasing u-joints on Saturday when you should be out having a life. Running your own truck for a living ain't always all it's cracked up to be even if you can manage to keep your head above water and make some money. Lots of guys have figured that out the hard way.

That’s about 1400-1600 wkly gross 1k-1300 net why settle for that when you can make 4k-10k wkly gross 2k-8k net? I rather make more be in control of my own schedule, runs, and not have to answer to anyone. After running company almost 3yrs I’m over it I’m getting pennies to the dollar. I’m salaried I make $250 a day but that’s if I do 1 or 10 loads just 1 load the company is being paid at least $1k for that load. They’re not doing a #### thing I’m the one hooking and dropping dealing with the grumpy security workers and dock employees playing mechanic when I get a crap trailer because I rather just fix it myself then wait the 2hr+ for a maintenance truck to meet me then add in the bipolar weather TX loves to throw at us it can be 80 and next thing you know it’s dropped to 60 and pouring rain with flash flood warnings going off everywhere. Nope not anymore after the 20th my company days are done and I’m running for me, myself, and I
