The ripple effect of the total devastation of (mostly the food) service industry is going to be felt for a very, very long time. It won't affect the elites though that go out for $500+ plates though, so it will be ignored.farmerjohn64, Rocks, Eldiablo and 13 others Thank this.

They do tip share . Our minimum wage is 15$ and hour. We take out once a month or so for the last year. Always tip 20%. Min wage went up, so did the prices. Most restaurants the cheaper items are 20$ a plate, if you want steak/seafood etc, 30-40.
Restaurants have been closed so much this year, a lot are starting to fold. Small and big are failing. They closed and pulled the signs off my towns montanas last month..
If this keeps up much longer I vision seeing the big fancy restaurants becoming take out store fronts.farmerjohn64, Rocks, Eldiablo and 13 others Thank this. -

Also doesn't help that in some places, like here in Oregon, the goob's kept moving the goal posts on how restaurants could operate.
One week, can do dine in.
Next week can't.
Etc. etc.
Lot of former food service people said f-it, not going to come to work in that industry when they didn't know how long they'd be able to work.farmerjohn64, AModelCat, Rocks and 11 others Thank this. -
Tip share isn't the correct term. I mean claim tips. Supplement the wages with the tips. 7.25 might be minimum but if you make enough tips then the restaurant only pays you enough to equal minimum wage for hours worked that the tips didn't cover or 2.75/hr to take care of taxes.
