OK so a friend of mine pull a few strings and I was offered a second job today by USA Truck. Originally I was hired by Roadtex to run team reefer coast to coast. However USA truck is offering to train with for a month then hand me my own truck. With Roadtex I will be earning $.55 a mile with 3000 miles guaranteed but it’s team driving. USA truck I’ll be a solo driver after 30 days but only making $.44 a mile. Should I stay with my original offer or should I jump onto USA Truck? I have to make my decision within a day or two because both companies want me at orientation next week
Second job offer

i did team in my first year, then i threatened to quit, and was given my own truck, and i ran my butt off.
made more money on my own, then with what you might end up with, a crusty underwear wearing, smelly, slob of a co-driver....
i'd NOT team UNLESS it was a family member or spouse.
the only "acceptable" time to team, is when you are in training, then GTHO...!!!!! -
One big benefit with USA Truck is the "Self-Dispatch Program" that lets drivers pick their loads.
I don't know what you have to do to qualify for that program, but you can ask. Maybe check and find out if that program is still used.
Either way, personally, I'd go with the solo driving with USA Truck.firemedic2816 and JoeyJunk Thank this. -
Go solo.

If each driver gets .55 cpm, that's great pay. Probably run 6000 miles weekly. That's about $3300 for each driver weekly.
~
Even if you split .55 cpm you'll still make about $1600 for each driver, just with cpm pay. That doesn't include accessorial pays.
