I don't know what the big deal is because it's always reimbursed. Many times, if you ask the receiver to do so, they'll pull the freight off your truck, sign the BOL' s "subject to count & inspection," and you can be on your way down the road quickly. Or you can slip somebody a $20 or a $50 to hurry it up but I'm cheap and never do that.
Those lumpers!!!

Never had many problems with Jug Head Lumpers. Told them they had an hr. to dump the load, time starts now. Would get back in my rig and wait an hr.
If nothing took place? I'd back in the middle of the parking lot and start the process of dumping there load in the parking lot, after 5 or 10 pcs. hit the asphalt? Somebody would show up every time, redfaced and screaming and swearing, What you think your doing?. Unloading the Truck Jug Head I would answer. One time, only one Iime dumped the complete load on there dock, some on the dock , most on the asphalt. Receiver said? Not signing your BOL.
Went got back in my Rig, signed my bills, stuffed a copy in the commodity. Carried on my business as usual. Got paid for the load, had my signed copy
I had found out early in this business that being nice to the crazy people was a perfect formula for financial ruin. This happened at Huntspoint back in the 70's. -
I get it, that's industry standard to be responsible for enabling the customer to properly count and restack the product with accordance to their needs.
My take on this is that when I bring a load, most often on a sealed trailer, I should not have to be involved in restacking it. Counting and quality check yes. Unload it, count it, if you need to, then sign the paperwork and off I go - That's the way is done at Costco and Walmart.
It should not be my concern of how they want to put it on shelves in their stack room. Don't take me hostage for hours.Last edited: May 27, 2021

Yeah, was 25 ton of 100 lb bags of potatoes. Was overweight. Next time in? The management at Huntspoint had me in there office. First time and only I ever seen a Million American Dollars in a briefcase sitting right in front of me in the office. Was taken to a beautiful club, women was swinging and sliding up and down poles and everything. The Jug Heads was unloading the Rig and I was drinking a Martini.
