For the last 20 some odd years I tell them to unload or I take it back to shipper. Only have done it 3 times since 1989
Took load back to shipper. Anymore I just don’t accept loads that go to any grocery
Warehouses especially Wal mart etc.
#### grocery warehouses

That is an awesome piece of ammo for those that need it and should use it. I just flat out refuse to go anywhere that uses lumpers.Czar_Zero, Dave_in_AZ, JoeyJunk and 4 others Thank this.

So does this mean that nobody really has to use them? I don't even have a dog in this fight, but it seriously bothers me.JoeyJunk, Badmon, D.Tibbitt and 1 other person Thank this.

No, but they cannot tell you as a driver you have no option to unload yourself.
Or not allowed on dock.
Ultimately the customer on either end of shipment reimbursed, if not reimbursed and driver has to pay then yeah turn them into FMCSA hotline for coercion.
Lots of places use limpets to lower payroll and workers comp claims. My argument is this fee should be prepaid or something. Why do we as drivers need to be involved or even my company. I give brokers the choice either prepay or I don’t take the load. I have tried to leave a couple facilities over the years. I have been stopped and threatened to have local police called on me. For theft of freight. I explain how can it be theft I have the bills snd trailer still sealed.
Then it goes on with we will call your company. I tell them good please call me I will discuss again over the phone with you. I have very short patience anymore

Me and you both. I couldnt imagine rolling out to a jobsite only for the crane operator to tell me i need to pay him to unload his #### . bye bye mr crane boy. !
Imagine if u ordered something online and when ups showed up to deliver and you told him you couldnt take delivery without payment from him... That #### would be thrown in the back of the truck and on a overnight flight back to wherever it came from ! Amazing what some places get away with only because drivers put up with it ... I bet if nobody paid that bs lumper fee it wouldnt existGod prefers Diesels, Gearjammin' Penguin, Czar_Zero and 6 others Thank this. -
Here is the lumper law. At the bottom you can file a complaint for noncompliance. Not sure how Covid would effect the complaint, if Covid guidelines are followed. In the past, before Covid I have called their Lumper headquarters and complained. It resolved the issue when I mentioned the Lumper Law.

Hell, the receiver probably takes a cut of the lumper fees as part of the lumper contract. I could be totally wrong, but I’ve wondered that. If anyone is aware if that is true or not, please chime in.bad-luck, God prefers Diesels, Capacity and 4 others Thank this.
