My experience has been that a Jug Head will hire His buddy who is in the need of some really heavy drugs. His partner needs a fix, so He provides the fix.
Meanwhile, Jug Head stands back doing not much of anything while His buddy who has Sunken Eyes and Frothing Lips works till he is wasted to the point of no return. Any you Driver's ever experienced that? Yeah, just awful, seen them Fall right on the floor of the trailer,, gasping for Wind.
h,

This is yet another one of those topics where if drivers stuck together the whole lumping extortion thing would be non-existent. We would be talking about it in past tense. "Ah remember when we had to pay those losers at Kroger to unload their own delivery"..."yeah, what were we thinking?"

I'm glad lots of people hate grocery warehouses and Wal Mart, lumpers, etc It's part of the reason I'm able to do 4 easy loads in 3-1/2 days and net over $5,000 for the trouble. I admit a tight market helps too. And Wal Mart loads always seem to be some of my best paying ones because they are so strict about on time performance issuing fines to their suppliers and 3PL's, etc.gentleroger and ready2truck Thank this. -

If it's anything like how we were reimbursed as company drivers(found out that it's not the same), then you are paying taxes on that reimbursed expense. They used to reimburse our scale tickets and other expenses that we pay for out of our pocket. So if the pay was $1000 a week, and they reimbursed $200 in expenses, you pay taxes on $1200 as income. So if you move a load for $3000 and pay the lumpers $300, then if the broker sends you a 1099 for $3300, then you are paying taxes on the full amount(Broker sends 1099 to IRS and your gross income is inflated, but net taxable income remains the same after expense). It's even worse if the carrier uses factoring. Now they're paying a percentage of that $300 to get it back.
I don't believe this is mock outrage. Motor carriers are responsible for transportation, they should not be treated as financial institutions. If someone wants to borrow $300 for 30 days or whatever, shouldn't they go to a bank for that?Last edited: May 27, 2021

Y’all cry about lumpers. Who do you think unloaded the truck before the use of lumpers became common?
