Depends who you ask, Pardner. Me, personally, I've driven quite a few of them and liked them. Relaible, comfortable, easy to find dealers for service etc. Watch out for leaks above the windshield (common problem). I liked the cubby holes (easy to reach) and etc. Now, die hard Pete/KW owners will disagree, but, to each his own, right?

centurys are throw away trucks not dissing FLs as I own 3 of them they just did not design that model for a long service life and they get pricey when the do need fixed

is it 570k on the motor or the truck?

Too much for me. Saw 2001 Cen w Det 12.7 430/470 hp sell at auction last week for $2100. Had 650k. New overhead. 235"wb condo. Plain white. Ran good. Lots of others there. Trucks are real cheap now. Just get out there and look. There are tons of good and bad repo trucks.

I wouldn't pay $10,500 for that. Maybe $3-5K if they have the paperwork showing all the maintenance and that it truly did have a new motor put in it.

Just because someone says that its been well maintained and how great it is doesn't mean that's true especially when that person is the one trying to sell it.

Also its worth it have an oil analysis done at the very least for $40 or so and a inspection by a 3rd party shop.

I know this will open a can of worms, but I believe trucks only have about a 10 year life span. Once you start to get beyond that they really have to be in good shape, plus a lot of luck to make owning one worth it. To be honest, I have seen a few guys that really didn't have enough money to buy a decent truck in the first place ended up buying what ever they could afford and it turned into a money pit. If you could spend double that you could find a truck 4 times better in the 7 year old range. It is a buyers market out there. I would stay away from 10+ year old trucks.

I don't know of any specific ones in your area. But you can check w/Ritchie Bros, local bankers, truck repo men, etc. There are always auctions going on. If you have some cash or good credit now is good time to p/u bargains. There was 07' Pete 379 at bank in Burleson tx a while back. 475cat w 18sp untrashift. They had repoed it from some one. Wound up letting it go for about $55k. Was one beautiful rig. Just poke around and you will find out who's handling all the truckers w/bad luck equipment.
