1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Torch90 I am a new member and cannot PM. Sounds like u have a couple of good prospects however if things change I want to tell u about me. I finished a 34 career in the electrical ind. 26 years at the last employer. I was married 31 years until mu daughters were raised. I came from good pioneer stock and was indoctrinated with an excellent work ethic and believe working is a gift from our creator. I started driving OTR 48 states Jan 08. I love driving and wanted to do this since I was a young man. I have had a little of rough time with my choices of who I drove for. Would like very much your consideration when my turn comes up. Good luck to the you others that want a good employer!

Here is the deal. We are flatbedders. We expect to be paid accordingly. Why would I work for less and sacrifice hometime for less than that? I have ran up and down these roads. When I take home between 800-1200 a week I am content if I can get home on the weekends. Take away the money and hometime and you will have that truck open.

I came off the road for that very reason. Anything less than that and it is not worth me being out there. I rode it out. The money was dropping and the hometime was dropping. I like flatbedding, but I am not going to work for nothing. Where are the good drivers? Where are the good paying jobs is the better question.

What would that be ? If one isn't from "pioneer stock", one isn't good ? Also, what would "bad" pioneer stock be ?

Well I hope you dont mind my chiming in on your post here. I have to crack the knuckles for this one.

Ok, you pay 30% of LINEHAUL. Means NO DEADHEAD PAY, correct? In other words, you are one of these "owners" who doesnt mind the fact that your driver delivered at point A, but now has to drive, lets say 300 miles for that other load, not paying too much better than the one they just let go of to point B for the "backhaul", or other load whatever. And you think you got some right to call a man "not hard working" because he has a problem with working like that where he gets paid for half the weeks work, working a full 7 days a week?

Second, you claim "child support agency" and all this nonsense. You mean to tell us and everybody else here that EVERY SINGLE DRIVER you have had who got smart and told you to shove it owes child support, and the people found him and THATS WHY they left? You are surely not thinking straight my man.

Clearly it is YOUR OWN business mindset, and way of thinking and conducting your business that has you with only 3 trucks instead of 6, running for someone elses company, instead of your own.

I have been there. 30% means nothing until the driver knows exactly what the hek the 30% is. You say 30% like its loads of money and probably smile when you say it the same. While the driver is madder than a pit bull eating puppy chow when he realized he only made a whoppin $80 for that 10 hour drive. Maybe you would be better suited to conduct business operations in mexico where you could just pay pesos. Forget american money and such. I would imagine you are one of those owners who when asked what the load pays, swallows hard and changes the subject real quick rather than answering the question.

There are drivers out there who are REASONABLE. REASONABLE means you and driver agree to certain terms. Not just this, "oh i own the truck and im only going to pay you 30%". The last company I drove for it started out on those terms and ended in hourly pay. $17 an hour to be exact. I was home every weekend. And home very very frequently during the week. Home on the weekend meaning the entire weekend, not long enough to get a 34 hour reset and back out. Running local, regional, and a little bit of OTR. When economy slumped over, pay went down. Did I expect the full $17 an hour? No, we agreed to my taking a $5 an hour pay cut. But then was paid overtime for hours over 40 hours. So it wasnt really all that bad to me, and wasnt all that bad to him. He ultimately went under though. He could have stayed in had he tried hard enough. He had a customer base that was 30 customers and got work primarily from 3. Laid off every driver but two, me and another guy. Which left two trucks he still owed on, and 3 trailers just sitting. Clearly had nothing to do with drivers quitting, or not working hard enough.

So with all do respect sir, maybe you should stop lowballing people and pay a decent wage. I suppose the guy you claim runs his butt off to make $800 a week means he is hardly ever home? When you are reasonable, you are most likely to get reasonable people. You want to short change, and bend drivers over, you will get bent over in the end.

I will humor myself with reading the rest of this thread. Since it is public and will chime in accordingly.
    Thanks!:biggrin_255:
