More than likely upper liner o ring leaking
RMTR and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
Liner may have dropped a little, bet they didn’t check liner protrusion, just slapped new head on.
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Another $2000, plus counterbores, about $300 per hole. plus Labor, maybe $2000 more. You have a whole new engine. I’d take it somewhere else, have it done right. Before the new head gets warped. Original shop should have checked the liner heights. Bad gasket first time, bad head second time. Highly unlikely. Bolts were upgraded, and torque values were increased a bit. But all previous to your engine. New bolts should always be used with new head. I’d check the mechanic knows all that.

The height of the liners was checked and is ok, new head bolts for new head. The upper O-rings of the liners turned out to be a problem. No more leaks after liners replaced. Thank you for support.

Would you believe that a few mechanics and two large szop bosses did not carry that it could be the top o-ring? Only after removing the liners did they believe it. I guess it's not a common issue.Last edited: Jun 16, 2021
