I'm planning to remove my passenger seat this week and am strongly leaning towards putting a 2 drawer filing cabinate there.

A plastic set of 3 drawers from walmart is another option and something I had in my first truck since it had no passenger seat or other storage. But a filing cabinate has taller drawers and I want to use it for some food/cooking stuff and small appliances.

Do you have a stick or automatic on the steering column? I have a 2019 T680 with an auto, and the interior is basically the same although the 660 is a bit narrower. I've thought many times about building something over there. Naturally if you have a stick, you're more limited on room. What I've had in mind was keeping the passenger seat in the down position. The seat can support one side and two legs down to the floor in front of the seat for additional stability. With the seat all the way down, you have room to build up to the edge of the window any kind of cabinet you want with storage nooks and cup holders. One of my biggest complaints about KW is the last of usable room while driving. I keep so much crap in the passenger seat because there is no flat space on top of the dash to hold anything like a sandwich while you're driving.

If you remove the passenger seat, you won't have any place for a kitty.

That's exactly what I was envisioning construction wise. Looks like closer to 3/4 ply and some angled dowels on the inside shelf? Looks super sturdy. Good job. But I was thinking of a larger structure and at 60lb per 4x8 that gets heavy faster than plastic LOL

3/4" ply ends, top and rear stiffener are 1/2" ply

All put together with 1-1/2" pocket screws. Thats 9 years old at this point no loose screws and ive taken it apart a few times to sand and refinish it. weighs at most 5 lbs. If you are heavier (im 150lb) and want it strong enough to jump on id build the top from 3/4 but its good for 250 lbs as it is if youre stepping into the back on one foot on it.

I also pocket screwed the drink shelf, made my brother one 2 weeks ago, ill try and get some pictures of it, just ran torx screws straight through the panels and sides for the drink shelf, didnt want to deal with the pocket screw setup for minimal cosmetic gain

That was my elderly dog in my truck for basically hospice care for her last 9 months :--(
her platform was an ongoing project for her comfort and accessibility as she deteriorated. The foam pad was over a 2'×3'ish top and bottom plate with 1x1 legs all 4 corners inside to separate them about 8". Leveled on the seat and propped under the front with my dishpan 5gal bucket for stability. She had a window view and I had a stash spot I could reach from inside or via passengers door open when it was dinner time. If I hadn't put my freezer there in this truck I'd consider upgrading that idea. Lots of potential storage. VID_20200215_164934158_exported_367.jpg
