I appreciate the words of encouragement, this is not my first career I'm getting into this line of work at 42 after my career in construction management went south when covid hit. However I have always wanted to get into trucking and used this opertunity to make the switch. I'm glad I got a opportunity with OD my last job in construction was with a smaller family run company but I was there for almost 17 years and enjoyed the family like structure/atmosphere. I appreciate everything I have read & learned about OD family structure, from what I can see the Montgomery terminal looks like a well oiled smooth running machine and I look forward in getting started & putting in my time.
I sailed through driving school fairly smoothly, I had my endorsements taken care before getting my license (I think the terminal manager liked to see this) as I interviewed for the p&d position before even having my license in hand. I'm also glad to go through OD's orientation/training for 4 weeks before being sent out on my own. The last thing I want to do is make a mistake especially in the beginning! Honestly going through the driving school just barley gave me enough seat time to get by the test. I look forward in getting to know the equipment along with the training. It sounds like OD has been training from the dock up for a long time im sure they have a well laid out plan for getting me ready for the road on my own!

nice you are able to choose. How did you get this option to choose?

No call backs from the apps I resubmitted with either the Phoenix or Commerce City terminals yet. With some of the pay and other bonuses I've heard about from ODFL, might be a good time to jump if they let me. Not to mention the pay of hauling doubles/triples seems to be much higher than the fuel jobs I'm clamoring after.
Biggest concern for me though is the days off policies with their extra board/linehaul. If I'm relocating, I'm gonna have to make several series of trips to get things moved and situated between work nights.Speed_Drums Thanks this. -
